Alexandra Oliva joined us as a Writer in Residence in 2015. She worked on the final edits to her debut novel The Last One, forthcoming from Ballantine/Random House in 2016, and began work on a new novel. Alexandra met her literary agent Lucy Carson at Aspen Summer Words 2014. On our blog, you can read about Alexandra’s experience of meeting her agent and selling her novel.
Alexandra took a break from writing to talk about meeting her agent and what makes Aspen a special place for creativity and inspiration. Check out the video below, which also includes some stunning shots of the area.
Alexandra Oliva was born and raised in a tiny mountain town in upstate New York, where she spent her childhood reading about adventure, writing about adventure, and having the occasional adventure of her own. She earned a B.A. in History from Yale University in 2005 and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The New School University in 2011. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and their brindled mutt, Codex. Her debut novel, The Last One, is forthcoming from Ballantine/Random House. She is represented by Lucy Carson of the Friedrich Literary Agency, whom she met at Aspen Summer Words 2014.
