Thank you for an amazing season of Winter Words! We are so grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating the power of storytelling and engaging with this year’s incredible authors.

Here are some highlights from this past season:

January 29 @ Paepcke Auditorium: Ayad Akhtar, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and novelist, discussed his Broadway play McNeal, starring Robert Downey Jr.

(SOLD OUT) February 5 @ TACAW: Kevin Fedarko, journalist and author of The Emerald Mile and A Walk in the Park, shared insights from his 750-mile journey through the Grand Canyon.

February 12 @ Paepcke Auditorium: Lauren Groff, acclaimed novelist and short story writer, spoke about The Vaster Wilds and the themes of survival and resilience.

We are excited to announce the 29th annual Winter Words speaker series lineup:

This year’s Winter Words will be held in memory of longtime Aspen Words supporter Wally Obermeyer.

January 28 @ Paepcke Auditorium: Susan Orlean, staff writer for The New Yorker and bestselling author of “The Orchid Thief” and “The Library Book.” Her most recent book is “Joyride: A Memoir.”

February 4 @ Paepcke Auditorium: Lily King, award-winning author of six novels including “Writers and Lovers” and “Euphoria.” Her most recent novel is “Heart the Lover.”

February 11 @ TACAW Tara Roberts, Award-winning National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence and memoirist brings untold histories to the surface through her global work documenting slave shipwrecks in her book “Written in the Waters.”

There are a few options for joining the 29th season of Winter Words (2026):

  • In-person tickets ($35) are available for two events at Paepcke Auditorium in Aspen and one event at TACAW in Basalt. Tickets available for purchase starting December 2, 2025.
  • A virtual season pass ($35) is available for all three events. Passes available December 2, 2025.

All in-person ticket sales are final and non-refundable. Tickets are transferable to another person.
